Why ice dams can lead to leaks
Water held behind an ice ridge can move beneath roofing in ways ordinary rainfall does not. That can wet roof decking, insulation, walls or ceilings.

After the thaw
If you had interior leakage, inspect the affected roofing and attic areas once conditions allow. Wet insulation, stained decking or damaged roof edges can indicate follow-up work is needed.
